Nagashino-Shitaragahara PA (Shinshiro, Aichi)

Place

I vsited a parking Area called Nagashino-Shitaragahara in Aichi prefecture.

It was my first time visiting, and the first thing that caught my eye was its exterior. the roof looked like traditional Japanese Kawara tile roof , and the whole place had an Edo-era-like vibe.

There were many family crests displayed outside. they were Oda clan’s family crests. the most famous member of the Oda family is probably Oda Nobunaga, and this parking area is located near the site of one of the major battles they fought, called the Battle of Nagashino .

Because of this, there were many souvenirs related to the battle and Japanese warlords, such as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. They even sold Japanese matchlock guns that were used in the battle (of course, not real ones). I found some japanese tea cups that were really cute and perfect as souvenirs, and there were also miniature katana and kabuto keychains like the ones shown below.

At the restaurant in the parking area, there weren’t many dishes related to the battle or warlords. However, they had a small tatami seating area which is unusual for service or parking areas. this isn’t directly related, but they also offered free rice refills, which is quite rare in today’s service or parking areas.

Inside the restaurant, There was a famous and impressive battle illustration of the Battle of Nagashino on the wall. We enjoyed looking at it, and trying to find famous warlords in the illustration.

They also have an observation deck outside, where you can see the former battlefield and the site of the famer headquarters.
